Normal People star Daisy-Edgar Jones poses in a striking cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar as she insists ‘TV has got us all through lockdown’

Daisy Edgar-Jones has posed in a striking cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar’s December issue, where she spoke of how ‘TV has got us all through lockdown’. 

The actress, 22, wowed in a stunning embellished dress before slipping into a sequinned ballgown for the glamorous photoshoot.

In the accompanying interview, Daisy spoke of her leading role in the series Normal People, attending the BAFTAs virtual ceremony and her future as an actress in the midst of a pandemic.

For one look, the TV star wowed in a spaghetti strap dress which featured a tight bodice adorned with sequins and a-line floor length skirt. 

The actress wore her hair in an elegant chignon and also modelled a silver beaded dress which she complemented with a necklace with the letter ‘D’ on it.  

Daisy became an overnight sensation when she starred as Marianna alongside Paul Mescal (Connell) in the coming-of-age adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel.

On her role in Normal People, Daisy said: ‘TV has been the thing that has got us all through. I feel very lucky to have been a part of such a special show that has resonated with a lot of people.’

Daisy’s co-star Paul received an Emmy nomination for the critically-acclaimed drama which followed two teenagers negotiate romance throughout the pressures of high school and university. 

The actress was praised for her portrayal of Marianne Sheridan and the series went on too receive a slew of nominations from various award ceremonies.

On attending the BAFTAs, Daisy said: ‘It was the most magical day. Getting my make-up and hair done was really fun, and showing off my shoes! Now I’m just in slippers.’

The BBC star admitted things have changed in the acting world due the pandemic as she has had to return to work under new social-distancing restrictions and audition virtually.  

‘It was a wee bit strange at first, but it’s mad how used to things you get. I’m so happy to be back working,’ she said.  

‘I’ve got quite good at balancing up the camera and doing the lighting. The only thing is working out your eyeline. Sometimes I get a bit shy if I’m staring at the camera too much.’ 

Daisy is set to lead the cast in asocial thriller, Fresh, though the studio is keeping details about the plot under wraps for now. 

On her future as an actress, the star said: ‘I’d like to see how much I can morph and change and learn. I’m really excited to keep exploring what I can do.’
