The factory, located in the city centre of Fuzhou, was said to be a manufacturer producing steel structure and iron covers.

It was next to a parcel delivery branch, which had also been burned to the ground.

A petrol station was behind the area where the fire broke out. There were also other factories manufacturing cardboard boxes and equipment nearby.
