Katie Holmes has her hands full as she wears a brown leather trench coat during a solo outing in NYC

Since she started dating Emilio Vitolo Jr in early fall, Katie Holmes and her new beau have been attached at the hip. 

But on Wednesday the 41-year-old actress was spotted on a rare solo outing as she loaded her arms up with recyclable shopping bags after running errands. 

Making her way downtown in NYC, the cover girl looked chic in a brown leather trench coat. 

Opting for a no-fuss day, Holmes went makeup free throwing her hair up in a messy bun. 

She suited up in a stylish pair of black trousers and a matching turtleneck that she layered under the statement coat. 

Katie maximized comfort in a pair of white Velcro sneakers, completing the chic city look with a brown and green leather tote.  

The Batman Begins actress stopped at a grocery store to grab some essential goods, before making her way to a home interior store.

She carried her reusable grocery bags on one arm, flashing her dark manicure as she strolled.  

Holmes made her way past several boarded up stores, as cities around the country have braced themselves for violent election turmoil. 

She did her part to protect herself from the coronavirus as she covered her face with a black mask. 

The outing comes the day after Katie was spotted putting on her usual affectionate display with her new restaurateur boyfriend. 

The lovebirds were seen kissing on the city street, before walking arm and arm in their fall’s finest. 

Vitolo – who is the chef at Emilio’s Ballato – and Holmes did not have the easiest start to their relationship. 

As people took notice of the new man in Katie’s life, it came out that the 33-year-old was engaged to Rachel Emmons, a woman who he ended his 18-month engagement with just before hours before pictures of the two came out. 

Though the duo have been spotted dining with Vitolo’s father at their family’s famous restaurant, Vitolo’s mother reportedly took issue with the nature of the relationship. 

An insider reported that his mom Lourdes, ‘didn’t like how he handled’ the situation, adding that she ‘brought him up better than that.’ 

Though it was made clear that things had not been working between the two for a while, the public nature of his relationship with Holmes came as a serious jolt to his family and friends. 

Continuing to criticize the relationship more, some went below the belt and attacked the duo’s intelligence, with one actor saying that talking to Holmes is like ‘talking to somebody who works at Dairy Queen.’

A source close to Vitolo shared that Holmes was more his speed than Emmons, as it was revealed that he had a preference for older women.  

This has been Katie’s first relationship since her notoriously private six year run with actor Jamie Foxx, who has also moved on since their August 2019 split. 

A friend of Katie’s shared that she was happy she could ‘be free and comfortable with her relationship with Emilio,’ as it was a nice change from her veiled relationship with Foxx.
