The ultimate pre-lockdown to-do list!

The ultimate pre-lockdown to-do list! Mothers share the things they want to remember this time around – including going to the tip, picking up craft supplies and having acrylic nails taken off

  • Parents have shared the tasks they’ll cross off their to-do lists before tomorrow
  • Going to the tip, getting a wax and having acrylic nails removed were mentioned
  • Others suggested buying art supplies and shoes for children growing quickly

With just over 24 hours until England is plunged back into lockdown, parents are busy preparing for the month ahead.

Mothers and fathers from across the UK have taken to Mumsnet to share their list of essential tasks that have to be carried out before services close tomorrow night.

Some of them focus on personal well-being, such as booking in for a last-minute haircut, leg wax, or to have acrylic nails removed. Others are focused on getting the house ready by taking unwanted items to the tip or picking up gardening supplies.

However children are the focus, with parents noting how important it is to make sure there is lots at home to keep little ones entertained over lockdown.

Others suggested getting a head start on Christmas shopping, particularly if there is a must-have present that might be difficult to find in December.

One posted: ‘I’ve moved my nail and eyebrow appointments up to tomorrow and booked the boys in for hair cuts. I’m going to go and do some shopping for some craft stuff to keep the 2 year old occupied. and do some Christmas shopping so that I don’t have to rush around doing in December!’

Another wrote: ‘I’m buying Christmas cards, birthday cards just in case, new lounge wear and going to M&S for snacks. Also going to the toy shop for some small Christmas presents so i don’t have to relay on Amazon for them.’

A third added: ‘Get children’s shoes. You couldn’t get them for love nor money during lockdown which is a challenge if you have a rapidly growing toddler. A trip to the bookshop might be in order if we have time. I don’t want to just order things from Amazon.’

Despite the panic, several other posters pointed out that online deliveries are still available and that many items, including advent calendars, stamps and essential medicine, can be bought from supermarkets.
