RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series 2 is CONFIRMED for early 2021 with the hit series renewed for a THIRD season as it teases star-studded guest line-up

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series two has been confirmed for early 2021.

The popular series, which sees judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr crown one contestant a UK Drag Race Superstar, has also been renewed for a third season.

BBC revealed that the second series will be airing on British screens in early 2021 in a bid to make the nation feel ‘much better’, a quote made popular by former contestant Baga Chipz, amid the coronavirus crisis.

The broadcaster confirmed that RuPaul, Michelle, Graham and Alan will all be returning to the judging panel with a secret star-studded guest line-up. 

Talking about the exciting announcement, RuPaul said: ‘Looking forward to better days! I’m happy to announce the triumphant return of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. 

‘Early in 2021, season two will arrive with all the hope, joy, laughter and glitter you’ve come to expect from our brilliant queens.’

Revealing the show had already been renewed for series three, RuPaul added: ‘We’re also currently casting season three with the best and the brightest Great Britain has to offer.

While Controller of BBC Three, Fiona Campbell, added: ‘We’re very happy to confirm that series two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is on its way very soon and with 12 new queens to meet, it’s even bigger than the first series and we can’t wait for you to see it in early 2021. 

‘Also, because we’re so excited about it and can’t keep it a secret, we wanted to share the news now that there is going to be a third series as well. 

‘Its been a huge hit for us and we love it as much as you do so we’re delighted that we can continue our relationship with World of Wonder and can bring even more Drag Race to BBC Three.’

The first series saw 10 contestants put through their paces as they took part in weekly challenges in the bid of earning a RuPeter badge and showing the best of British drag. With the bottom two contestants fighting for their spot in a lip sync battle.

The Vivienne was crowned the first-ever UK Drag Race Superstar with Divina De Campo and Baga Chipz as runner-ups.     

The first series saw celebrity guest appearances from Geri Horner, Cheryl, Jade Thirlwall, Stacey Dooley, Lorraine Kelly and Michaela Coel – to name a few. 

While the popular series has had an impressive 15.6 million requests on iPlayer so far.
