Heather Dubrow understands why former RHOC co-star Kelly Dodd has been ‘cancelled’

Heather Dubrow has weighed in on the backlash surrounding her former Real Housewives of Orange Country star Kelly Dodd.

Appearing on the Poplitically Incorrect podcast this week, the 51-year-old said she could see why some fans were boycotting the show after Kelly wore a hat that said ‘Drunk Wives Matter’.

‘I don’t harbour any ill will. I don’t want to be friends, but I have… nothing,’ she said when asked about her relationship with the RHOC star.

‘But, I think that in these days and times, talking about the boycott, if you don’t believe in the Black Lives Matter movement, if you’re gonna be against this, if you’re not gonna understand where we are in our world today and what humans need, you’re not human,’ she continued.

‘And I think in those circumstances, you can understand why someone would be cancelled.’

However, the brunette beauty said that she’s ‘not a big fan of cancel culture’ in general.

Heather starred on the Real Housewives of Orange Country from 2012 to 2016. She now hosts the popular podcast, Heather Dubrow’s World.

In recent weeks, RHOC fans on social media have threatened to boycott the popular Bravo show because of Kelly’s controversial actions around the coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement.

The 45-year-old reality star — who just married Fox News correspondent Rick Leventhal — shared photos from the packed soiree, which also left many fans confused as to how she was practicing any social distancing.

The Real Housewives of Orange County figure posted a picture wearing the hat, which Page Six reported was a gift from a friend and played on the Black Lives Matter movement.

Kelly’s followers have previously pressed her for not supporting BLM on her platform after she listed out major moments in a roundup of events that had happened in the first six months of 2020.

In a since-deleted video, Kelly defended the hat and said: ‘You know what, all lives matter. People that can’t get a joke, go f**k yourselves.’

While some users focused on the questionable apparel, others were more concerned with the lack of face masks and social distancing during the day where RHOC co-stars Emily Simpson, Gina Kirschenheiter and Elizabeth Vargas were in attendance.

Kelly later tried to quell gossip with a photo of all of the women wearing disposable face coverings.

‘Yeah well it doesn’t count when you post a picture before with everyone NOT wearing them,’ one user wrote. ‘So disrespectful to all the healthcare workers, essential works, people who have lost loved ones bc of COVID. Your carefree spirit is not safe at this time.’

Back in April, Dodd was criticised for traveling on an airplane and not taking the virus seriously.

‘If it’s dangerous why are the airlines still flying? You think I want to fly? I had to get back, how is that elitist?’ she responded. ‘Do you know how many people died from the H1N1, the swine flu or SARS?. It’s 25% get your facts straight you only hearing numbers not the reality! It’s God’s way of thinning the herd!’

Shortly after her comments, she took to Instagram to apologise for the big misunderstanding.

‘I want to give a public apology,’ she said during an apology on Instagram Stories. ‘When I wrote “this is God’s way of thinning the herd,” that’s not what I meant.

‘I’m not insensitive. I feel bad for all the families that lost loved ones, and I do think that we should all stay home and protect everybody. That’s not what I meant, and I want to apologize to anyone who got offended, OK? I’m sorry.’
