Cheryl Burke, 36, teases retirement from Dancing With The Stars after THAT fall: ‘I’m starting to get Tendinitis… time to hang up those shoes’

She has been on the show since its second season.

But Cheryl Burke has suggested that she might be looking at the prospect of retirement from Dancing With The Stars.

Shortly after she took a nasty tumble and struck her head at rehearsals last week, the 36-year-old ballroom dancer appeared on the Chicks In The Office podcast and discussed possibly leaving the hit competition show.

When she was asked how much longer she planned to continue on the program she quipped: ‘Well, after that fall….’ with a chuckle.

‘My hips don’t lie and I also have arthri-I’m starting to get like Tendinitis,’ explained Cheryl, who is teamed up with AJ McLean this season.

Tendinitis is the inflammation of a tendon. It happens when a person overuses or injures a tendon and is normally linked to an acute injury with inflammation, according to Medical News Today.

‘You know, for a woman as far as like ballroom dancing competitively goes, normally in their 30s – I’m 36, so it’s like, okay, you know, time to hang up those shoes.’

A couple of her female colleagues on the show are also in their mid-30s, such as Shana Burgess, 35, and Peta Murgatroyd, 34.

‘I also don’t wanna be that oldie, you know, that’s like: “Oh, here comes Cheryl in the same choreography, just going slow but in her head she thinks she’s going that fast, you know?”‘ Cheryl joked on the podcast.

‘So I just don’t want to – I also don’t want to, I guess, be a dancer and have my partner, right, having to be like: “Can’t lift!”‘

Cheryl, who first joined the show in 2006, added that ‘we’re going into season 30. This is season 29. I would love to sit at that judge’s table. It would be really great for me just to use my mouth and not my body!’

Derek Hough who also started off as a pro hoofer on Dancing With The Stars became a judge this season and Cheryl said he is ‘great.’

He sits at the table with Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba prompting Cheryl to vamp: ‘I mean, four judges? It’s fine. Just give us each five seconds.’

Derek is not the first former professional dancer to transition into becoming a judge – his older sister Julianne has also done so in the past.
