Tammy Hembrow’s sister Amy had a ‘gut feeling’ her daughter had eye problems before diagnosis

Her six-month-old daughter Aurora was recently diagnosed with strabismus – a condition where a person’s eyes don’t look in the same direction.

Tammy Hembrow’s sister Amy, 30, has reminded fellow mothers about the importance of trusting your instinct when it comes to their baby’s health. 

Posting to Instagram on Monday, the influencer uploaded an image with the words ‘Gut feelings are guardian angels’, alongside a thoughtful caption about Aurora’s diagnosis.  

‘This week we find out if Aurora is making progress with her eyes,’ the mother-of-one wrote, before thanking fans for showing their support in the wake of her baby’s diagnosis.  

‘I trusted my gut when a lot of people said her eye turn was normal in babies (which it can be in a lot of cases) but nobody spends as much time with her as me and mums should always trust their gut.’  

‘You are your baby’s biggest advocate and this lead to early detection,’ the beauty clinic owner warned. 

Amy revealed Aurora’s diagnosis on Instagram last month, uploading a photo of her adorable tot beaming behind a pair of glasses.  

‘She has Strabismus, and we are working on strengthening her eyes,’ Amy explained. 

‘She is otherwise happy and healthy. I noticed very early on that she would go cross eyed when trying to focus so I got a referral for a specialist,’ she added.

Amy explained that Aurora is now wearing a pair of custom-made glasses, explaining: ‘They are rubber, very light and she doesn’t mind wearing them one bit.’ 

Amy and her sisters Tammy and Emilee have become some of Australia’s most successful social media influencers, with Tammy’s Instagram following reaching well over the 11 million mark. 

Along with their influencer work, Amy and Emilee run a cosmetic skin clinic called SSKIN in Queensland.

Meanwhile, Tammy is the face of a successful fitness empire that includes a workout program called Tammy Fit and an activewear label Saski.
