A mews property which played home to Michael Caine’s enterprising cockney character Charlie Crocker in The Italian Job is now available to rent for £2,000 a week.

The three-bedroom house on Denbigh Close in London’s Notting Hill featured in an infamous scene where Crocker’s girlfriend Lorna, played by Maggie Blye, came home to find him in a dressing gown after getting up to no good with three scantily-clad ‘dollybirds’.

Having thrown the women’s clothes off the balcony as they fled in their underwear, Lorna then stormed through the eccentrically-decorated home and attacked him with a toy goose while he tried to defend himself with a large teddy bear.

The property, which is just off Portobello Road, has undergone a serious makeover since its appearance in the 1969 crime caper.

Its most recent refurbishment was done to an exceptionally high standard, resulting in a chic, modern living space.

Arranged over four floors and spanning 177.9 sqm, the mews home – let by Knight Frank – offers three spacious bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms, as well as a separate toilet.

On entering the house, the ground floor consists of a cosy TV room and a bedroom, guest cloakroom and a storage cupboard.

The spacious reception room on the first floor features a lounge, an open-plan fully fitted kitchen and designated dining area with parquet flooring, flooded with natural light from the skylights.

The principle bedroom is located at the top of the house with wooden floors, built-in storage, air conditioning and a roof terrace where tenants can enjoy a sun-downer while overlooking the cobbled street below.

Denbigh Close’s cobbled cul-de-sac of period properties is ideally located for nearby Westbourne Grove’s upmarket boutiques, bars and restaurants.

This house previously went on the market for £2.25 million in 2018.
