Clara Amfo suffered an awkward wardrobe malfunction during Saturday’s live Strictly Come Dancing show.

The Radio 1 presenter, 36, was the second celebrity to take to the floor dancing the the Viennese Waltz with her partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

But at the start of the performance her stiletto shoe made a tear in the side of her dress that featured puffy mesh layers.

Many viewers of the hit BBC 1 show took to Twitter to praise her for recovering from the blunder quickly and carrying on with her routine.

Former Strictly dancer Natalie Lowe also took to her social media to offer her support after the mishap, writing: ‘Handled the dress malfunction so well… I’ve had tule caught before and it’s like dancing on ice, so so difficult… amazing effort beautiful @claraamfo and @AljazSkorjanec’.  

After the dance Host Tess Daly said: ‘You did so well to carry on with your wardrobe malfunction then, I noticed your dress got caught in your shoe didn’t it?’

Clara replied: ‘It did but we pushed on through!’

‘When I watch you dance you give me the kind of energy where nothing can tear you down, I love that, you need to keep that.

‘You struggled a little bit with your hold and your posture, it was a little tight, but if you continue working with this energy towards every dance, I am certain there is improvement coming our way.’

Craig Revel Horwood then added: ‘Your frame was very loose for me darling, you were in and out, halfway through we lost your neck entirely. 

‘I would have liked to see if a bit smoother but i loved the choreography and the drama of the dance.’

‘I thought it was lovely, you tick so many boxes, some beautiful footwork, said Shirley, before giving Clara tips for keeping her shoulders down.
