Kylie Minogue unearths a cassette of her first EVER recordings from 1985 aged just 17 during lockdown clearout… as she reveals she’s patiently waiting to return to Australia post-pandemic

She’s one of the most iconic Australian artists of a generation.

And on Saturday, Kylie Minogue revealed she’d uncovered a cassette of her first ever recording aged just 17 from 1985 during a lockdown clearout – which would unknowingly mark the start of her illustrious career.

Speaking to Stellar, the 52-year-old said: ‘It was a demo tape more for acting – if a production needed someone who could sing I could hand it over. I guess I wanted to show I could reach a few notes!’

Kylie, who has sold over 70 million records worldwide, added that she sang three artists’ songs on the demo; Donna Summer, Quincy Jones and Patti Labelle.

She managed to play the old-school cassette through a vintage Sony Walkman, bought for her by her doting other half, Paul Solomons.

Kylie said it was ‘weird’ to hear her voice on the Walkman and described her voice as ‘tiny.’

‘I’m singing so high and I could have chosen easier songs!’

During the interview, Kylie also added that she ‘always thinks about’ being in Australia, and is patiently waiting until she can return back home when borders eventually open.

According to New Idea, Kylie is currently in a ‘love bubble’ in London with her boyfriend – but apparently, they’re thinking about a wedding Down Under.

The pair hope to wed in Melbourne where Kylie’s family is based, the magazine quotes an alleged source as saying, but are waiting to see how the pandemic pans out in the hard-hit state.

‘Family is so important to Kylie, so she wants her mum and dad and siblings to be at her wedding,’ the source claims.

‘She and Paul are monitoring the situation in Victoria closely because they obviously want to wait until they can fly home safely and not put anyone else at risk.’

The couple have been going from strength to strength since they first laid eyes on each other when they were introduced through mutual friends in February 2018.

Kylie met Paul – who works as GQ magazine’s creative director – following the breakdown of her relationship with Joshua Sasse.
