Emergency services first responded to the report of the missing child on a farm at Collie, just over 500km north-west of Sydney, at 9.55am on Friday morning.

Chief Inspector Denise Godden, the Orana Mid Western Police District Crime Manager, praised the response of police and fellow emergency services.

‘We had a great result which has made our day, it doesn’t get much better than this,’ Ms Godden said.

The search was coordinated by officers attached to the Orana Mid Western Police District who called in the help of PolAir helicopters, Rescue Squad, divers and trail bike riders, and the dog squad.

Members of the State Emergency Service, NSW Ambulance, and Rural Fire Service also rushed to the farm 15km outside of the Collie township to assist the search.

The young boy was located by officers on the remote farm and led back to his parents as more specialist police resources were on route.

The picture was shared to the NSW Police Facebook page on Friday afternoon with many people commenting on the excellent outcome.

‘Fantastic. Well done everybody,’ another person said.

‘Great job! I feel the emotion and relief of the mum from the picture …. well done,’ added a third.
