‘I did what I was instructed to’: WAG Candice Warner defends punching Roxy Jacenko on SAS Australia and says it’s a ‘shame’ the PR queen ended their friendship over it

Candice Warner continues to stand by her decision to punch longtime friend Roxy Jacenko in the face during SAS Australia.

The cricket WAG and former Ironwoman insists the move wasn’t personal as she was just doing what was expected of her by the Directing Staff.

Appearing on Seven’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Candice said: ‘Unfortunately there is no talk [between her and Roxy]. It’s a real shame, and it’s really blindsided me.’

On the first episode of SAS Australia last week, celebrities were paired off to fight each other and encouraged to land hits on their opponents’ faces with no mercy.

‘In regards to the fight, I just did what I was instructed to do and if [Roxy] felt uncomfortable with fighting me or anyone, she had an opportunity to pull out before stepping into the ring,’ Candice explained.

Host Larry Emdur asked if Candice regretted punching her former friend, but Candice calmly responded with a diplomatic answer.

‘I did what I was instructed to do. It’s not just Roxy and I who are friends, we’re friends with everyone on the show and we built relationships with everyone, so regardless of who I was up against it would have been a friend.’

‘I think ultimately it’s a shame that it has got to this, because Roxy did a great job. You have to commend anyone who puts their hand up and goes on this show, because it’s hard, it’s brutal, and it’s not for everyone,’ Candice added.

Roxy confirmed last week on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that she no longer considered Candice a friend after their fight on the military-style show.

While Candice happily took several swipes at Roxy during the fight, the Sydney publicist refused to retaliate because of their longstanding friendship.

Roxy claimed she reached out to Candice after filming the show in New South Wales’ Snowy Mountains in August and tried to repair their broken friendship.

But instead of accepting the olive branch, Roxy claimed that Candice simply ‘sacked her’ as her manager instead.

There has since been reports that Candice is now ‘consulting lawyers to break the notice period she’s contractually required to serve with former friend Roxy Jacenko’s talent agency’.
