Cheryl Burke performs with AJ McLean on Dancing with the Stars after suffering a head injury during practice

She suffered a scary head injury during practice the week before.

But Cheryl Burke seemed to be in great spirits as she performed the tango with partner AJ McLean on Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars. 

The 36-year-old professional dancer admitted she was ‘doing okay’ following the scary incident, while Tyra Banks confirmed she was all-clear to perform.

Burke and McLean performed the tango to the Psycho theme song for the Villain’s Night competition. 

The Backstreet Boys star dressed as Norman Bates as the couple trotted around the dance floor in front of judges.

After the performance, Carrie Ann Inaba asked if Burke was feeling better following the challenging week.

'I'm actually doing okay,' she said. 'You know, you go in and out a little bit. I think I hurt my rotator cuff actually more than my neck, but I'm hard-headed, thank god, so we're good'

When asked how McLean felt during the incident, he admitted to host Tyra Banks that he was ‘completely mortified’ when it happened.  

‘That’s why I went down,’ he said. ‘I was there with her every second, like, “Oh my god! Are you okay? Are you okay?” She’s family now. I’ve got to protect her like she does for me.’

‘Yesterday, I took a hard fall while rehearsing for #VillainsNight,’ she tweeted Monday. ‘Woman facepalming It’s one of those things that can happen in a split second.’

‘Cheryl and I were practicing during stage rehearsal and it did not go well,’ McLean said. ‘It happened so fast, I just heard her head hit the floor.’

The Dancing with the Stars beauty tweeted that McLean was quick to her aid in the incident.

‘Thankfully, I have the best partner I could ask for that was there to pick me up off the ground,’ she tweeted.

She added: ‘Keeping our fingers crossed for only planned mishaps during the show tonight!! Crossed fingers.’

Burke was examined by medical professionals in the wake of the fall, according to People. The incident follows another injury this season when Peta Murgatroyd hurt her neck while in a dance with partner Vernon Davis.
