The wife of singer Peter Andre said in her OK! column: ‘I really loved the picture and I think it’s great that she’s normalising differences and the way that kids feel about their genders.

‘Try to let your kids do what makes them happy, and if that is wearing pink and having longer hair then let them do it.’

The healthcare professional went on to recall a time when she told her daughter Millie, six, about how ‘lucky we are to live in a much more accepting society compared to the past’ as they watched The Greatest Showman.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, the TV star, who also shares Isabelle, 11, and Trixie, four, with her husband Matt, 37, said: ‘He’s just my son in a pink top.

‘For me that’s normality. He loves colour, he’s always had long hair, he’s a free and able-minded boy.

‘He’s like, “why do I have to dress in green and blue and grey, when I love red and pink and purple?” He’s always been that way.

‘We’re trying to raise him as an open-minded, inclusive individual. There were some negative bits, but that’s where the block button is great!’
