OFFAL mess! Lorry laden with animal guts spills load forcing police to shut M62 for clean-up operation

  • Police were forced to close part of the M62 outside Bradford earlier today 
  • A truck carrying offal lost part of its load on a roundabout at Junction 26
  • The foul-smelling animal guts shot over the front of the trailer before noon 
  • A specialist clean up team cleared the mess allowing the road to reopen at 3pm 

Part of the M62 was blocked today after a lorry spilt its load of offal over the carriageway.

West Yorkshire Police were called just before noon to the Chain Bar roundabout at Junction 26 of the M62.

A lorry has shed its load over the carriageway and now a specialist team has been called in to help clean it up.

A truck carrying a load of animal guts dumped some of the foul-smelling offal on the M62 south of Bradford forcing police to close two lanes for several hours

A specialist team were brought in to clean up the waste which flew over the top of the trailer after the driver braked heavily

Police advised passing motorists to keep their windows closed when they passed the trailer

Two lanes of the motorway were closed for several hours while the foul-smelling animal guts were cleared from the carriageway. 

According to Highways England the motorway has been reopened and traffic is returning to normal. 

West Yorkshire Police had earlier advised motorists to keep their windows closed.
