Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson weigh into the unisex name debate as they argue over Blake Lively naming her daughter James

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively naming their daughter James has sparked a fierce debate among two of Australia’s most prominent radio hosts.

On Thursday, KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson wrangled whether or not the predominantly masculine name was unisex or not.

‘James? Women aren’t called James,’ Kyle, 49, scoffed at his co-host.

‘Yeah they are,’ Jackie ‘O, 45, responded. ‘In fact, I think, Blake Lively called her daughter James.’

The Hollywood A-listers named their daughter after Ryan’s late father, James Reynolds, who died in 2015 with Parkinson’s disease.

‘In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names. I feel like we’re not really breaking any new ground here,’ Ryan told TODAY in February 2016.

‘I didn’t call her Summer Squash Meadowlark or something.’

Kyle went on to say if the name James could be used for a girl, he was going to call his future daughter Kevin.

‘Nope. That one’s not universal or unisex. No,’ Jackie replied.

‘Who says?’ Kyle said, before Jackie responded: ‘It just isn’t.’

Begging the question whether James and Kevin were unisex, the duo shared their segment on Instagram and encouraged followers to vote.

Seventeen percent of viewers of the Instagram Stories post said that James was a unisex name, with 83 per cent saying ‘no’.

However, only eight per cent of viewers believed Kevin was unisex, with ‘no’ taking the majority at 92 per cent of votes.

Kyle and Jackie ‘O’ are notorious for disputing topics and weighing in on debates.

Previously, they commented on the correct method of wiping when going to the loo after it was mentioned by AFL WAG Rebecca Judd.

Kyle told his co-host: ‘It’s strange you brought this up because I’ve been a sit wiper my whole life but just recently I stood up to wipe and thought ‘this is way easier’.’

Jackie, however, did not agree and responded: ‘Why would you stand up?’

‘The reason you’re sitting down is to make sure your area is spread. When you stand up, you immediately close the cheeks,’ she said.

Kyle went on to explain: ‘I’m very clean when I do this I use the toilet paper and then wet wipes.’
