Hollywood power couple of 37 years Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn return as Santa Claus and Mrs Claus for Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles 2.

In the first official trailer that was shared on Monday, ‘true believer’ teenager Kate Pierce (Darby Camp) and her pal Jack (Jahzir Bruno) find themselves unexpectedly transported to the North Pole during a family vacation with their parents.

Upon riding his wooden sleigh down a ‘hallow’ path, Father Christmas hears a cry for help and finds Kate and the son of her mom’s new boyfriend stranded in the snow.

‘Welcome to the North Pole,’ he tells the pair while reuniting with Kate, who ran away, after being unwilling to accept her mother’s new relationship.

He then asks her, ‘How did you get here? You and Jack are supposed to be on vacation with your family.’

‘Our shuttle fell into this wormhole,’ she explains, as a recording of her tour guide  mischievously tells them to have a ‘nice trip’ implies foul play.

The footage, then, pans to Jack asking Goldie Hawn’s character if she is Mrs. Claus, while bundled up in a furry blanket.

In response, Mrs. Claus, who is wearing a white turtleneck and her hair in a sleek updo, sits by his side and points to a nearby elf.

‘What is that thing!’ Jack asks, after shrieking in fear.

He continues: ‘The star protects us and keeps us hidden.’

The topper, however, is ultimately stolen by the mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel, who attempts to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas.

Once the star is taken, a massive power outage and confusion ensues in Santa’s Village.

‘What’s happening,’ Jack asks, while a Yule Cat appears to start a fight with some reindeers.

Meanwhile, Santa explains the situation is very ‘bad’ because ‘without the star the North Pole, the village and Christmas is doomed!’

Kate insists Christmas must endure and joins Santa on his sleigh to figure out a plan, as Mrs. Claus ‘arms’ Jack with milk and cookies.
