For many women, pregnancy is a time for indulging in comfort foods and allowing strict diets to fall by the wayside.

By this is certainly not the case for pregnant model Elyse Knowles, 27, who shared her very healthy day on a plate in an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday. 

Elyse, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Josh Barker, revealed that she begins her day with sourdough from her local bakery, homemade pesto, avocado and scrambled eggs.

For a morning snack, the blonde typically reaches for store-bought, low-sugar vanilla yoghurt with fresh blueberries, almonds and sunflower seeds. 

Lunch generally consists of a smoothie, or alternatively, ‘more bread’, Elyse revealed.  

For an afternoon snack, the expectant mother indulges in ‘some crackers’, and then for dinner she feats on a home-cooked meal – her favourite being roast potatoes with salmon and salad.

Elyse also told the paper that she battled morning sickness during her first trimester, and that she struggled to keep food down.

During this difficult time, Elyse ate a carbohydrate-heavy diet of freshly-baked bread and pasta with a generous squeeze of bottled tomato sauce.  

Luckily, Elyse has since recovered and is feeling ‘much better and alive now.

‘[During my first trimester] I was feeling bad and so I couldn’t down vegetables, but now I’m able to focus again and really pick foods that fuel my body,’ she told the publication. 

Elyse revealed she was pregnant with her first child last month, writing in an Instagram post: ‘And then there were 3’. 

She added the hashtag ‘#babybarker’ alongside a gallery of images of the couple on holiday in the Northern Territory.

The expectant mother has since been sharing pictures of her growing baby bump and documenting her pregnancy journey on social media for fans.
