Judge Jock Zonfrillo told the cooks: ‘Your time in the MasterChef kitchen has come to an end.  This is a tough moment.

But you should all be very proud of what you’ve achieved. Guys, we know that you’ve all got a very bright future ahead of you, in the kitchen and beyond.’

‘You might not be the next Junior Masterchef, but you’re not leaving empty handed, because each of you is getting a brand-new Kenwood mixer, thanks to Harvey Norman,’ he added.

Porsha took the exit in her stride, saying: ‘Even though I’m going home first, I’m really glad that I got to make new friends, join the family.

‘And just cooking in front of the judges. It was all just so amazing.’

Ryan agreed, saying:  ‘I didn’t think I would have this much fun in the MasterChef kitchen. But it is just the best time.

‘I made so many great friends and I’m going to continue cooking and never give up,’ he added.

Ryan, who is the son of 2018 MasterChef winner Sashi Cheliah, told HuffPost Australia after the competition that he hasn’t yet decided if he wants to a chef.

‘For a career path I have two main options, engineering and cooking. Those two things, I really love doing both of them,’ he said.
