Peter Overton carries a box of beer as he walks home with his wife Jessica Rowe

Peter Overton appeared to be preparing for a party at his home on Saturday.

The 54-year-old was spotted carrying a box of Italian beer Peroni as he walked home with his wife Jessica Rowe after visiting his local shops in Sydney. 

The Nine newsreader wore comfortable grey shorts and a matching coloured T-shirt as he held the box on his shoulder.

Peter completed his ensemble with a pair of black sneakers and also wore a navy hat to shield himself from the sun.

Meanwhile, the newsreader’s wife Jessica looked stylish in a pink jumpsuit complete with a matching belt.

She carried a plastic bag with supplies in one hand and held the family dog’s leash in the other.

The former Studio 10 host, 50, completed her ensemble with a pair of white sneakers and wore sunglasses for the walk.

Their outing comes one month after Peter received an Order of Australia medal.

Jessica shared a sweet photo of the couple after the ceremony to Instagram and said she’s ‘so proud’ of her husband.

‘My heart is full today! I’m so proud of my darling Petee. Today he received his AM for significant service to broadcast media and to the community,’ she wrote.

Jessica, 50, added: ‘He does so much, for so many, but he’s so humble about what he does. I however will shout about his achievements from the rooftops!’

In the photo, the proud media personality couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she stood alongside Peter, who wore his medal.
