TV personality James made the tongue-in-cheek comment while reflecting on the show’s milestone in a series of nostalgic Instagram posts shared with followers on Sunday evening.

Posting a snap of Mark from the show’s first series, he wrote: ’10 years ago, Oh how time flys! [sic] I’m a humble man and like to think I’m pretty modest but as we celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of The BAFTA award winning @towie I will make this statement this once.

It’s down to us: James Argent claims he and best friend Mark Wright are solely responsible for the incredible success of The Only Way Is Essex as it celebrates its tenth anniversary

‘Me and this man @wrighty_ single-handedly made this show!! Created tv magic daily and the rest, well they just came along for the ride.’

James and Mark became household names following the show’s 2010 launch, with a surprise BAFTA win in 2011 cementing its status as one of Britain’s much-watched shows.

But while James still make recurrent appearances, best friend Mark left in 2012 for a series of presenting roles, including two-years at the helm of LA based entertainment news shoe Extra.
