Niecy Nash and wife Jessica Betts open up about their surprise nuptials on GMA

They exchanged vows during an intimate wedding ceremony held at their California home in late August.

And Niecy Nash and wife Jessica Betts, 48, made their first televised appearance as a married couple on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning America.

‘It has nothing to do with gender, it has everything to do with being an amazing person and [Jessica] is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life,’ explained the 50-year-old Claws star to host Robin Roberts, 59.

Nash’s heartfelt answer came after Roberts encouraged her to respond to those who viewed her wedding as a sort of ‘coming out’ ceremony.

Niecy continued: ‘I was asked, “Is this your official coming out?” and I was like, “Coming out from where?” I wasn’t anywhere to come out of. I never lived a sexually repressed life. I just love who I love when I love them.’

The actress showcased her notoriously curvaceous frame in a bright red bodycon dress, while Jessica graced the screen in a stylish light pink blazer, grey plaid trousers, and a patterned dress shirt.

Jessica, who is a well known singer-songwriter, kept her hand on Niecy’s leg as they effortlessly navigated Robin’s love-filled interview.

Turing to Jessica, Robin asked her to explain the moment she knew ‘there was something there between [herself and Niecy]?’

‘I knew there was something the moment I met her, but when I fell in love with [Niecy] is when I desired no one else. I knew,’ she replied sweetly.

Niecy and Jessica met approximately four-and-a-half year ago, but their romantic relationship blossomed when Jessica appeared on Niecy’s hit television show Claws.

Self discovery: 'Well, actually, I knew that there was something with me, not so much [Jessica] because our being in love is new, but loving her as a soul, I've done that from the beginning,' Niecy explained

The emotionally-charged music video takes place on a desolate beach, while Niecy, donning her gorgeous wedding gown, poses near a guitar-slinging Jessica.

‘Can you tell us Niecy, when you heard [Catch Me] a couple of years ago for the first time [was that] when you knew “Ah ha! There is something here with this woman?”‘ asked Roberts.

‘Well, actually, I knew that there was something with me, not so much [Jessica] because our being in love is new, but loving her as a soul, I’ve done that from the beginning,’ Niecy explained.

She noted that Catch Me showed her exactly what she was seeking/desired in a partner and that Jessica had all of those qualities.

‘What [the song’s lyrics] said to me was that “This is what I’m looking for! That is the missing ingredient!” I absolutely want to be caught when I can’t fake it anymore. I absolutely fully want someone to see me.

‘And that is when I knew I was fully in love, when I felt fully seen and fully accepted – probably for the first time in my life,’ she concluded.

Nash insisted that her and Jessica are ‘so satisfied and so happy’ because they have chosen to be exactly who they are and were meant to be.

‘What are your plans going forward,’ asked Robin of the couple, to which Niecy replied: ‘We are actually trying to find the place where both of our art intersects. So we’re working on something like that right now.’
