Charles Grounds is one of the Australian actors who will star in the Baz Luhrmann biopic about rock ‘n’ roll icon Elvis Presley.

And on Thursday, he was spotted waiting for his ride to go to the film’s set on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The actor was dressed in a white T-shirt with a motorbike printed across the front, which he styled with the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of brown trousers.

He also brought along a backpack and guitar, and rolled his own cigarette while waiting.

Charles, who made a brief appearance in Crazy Rich Asians, was soon joined by a friend, who also headed to the film set with his guitar.

They appeared to enjoy an animated conversation just before their car arrived to transport them.

Filming for the new biopic resumed in September, six months after it was forced to close after star Tom Hanks tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a statement, Baz, 57, said he was looking forward to finally getting back to work on the blockbuster.

‘We’re back to, as Elvis liked to say, “taking care of business!”‘ he began.

‘It is a real privilege in this unprecedented global moment that Tom Hanks has been able to return to Australia to join Austin Butler and all of our extraordinary cast and crew to commence production on “Elvis”.

‘I cannot emphasise enough how lucky we feel in the current climate that the state of Queensland, and Queenslanders in general, have been so supportive of this film.’

The director also said he hoped to ‘be an example [of] how creativity and productivity can proceed safely and responsibly in a way that protects our team and the community at large’.
