Sister Mary Clarence is hoping to be born again.

Whoopi Goldberg appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Tuesday night as she revealed that she is definitely interested in doing Sister Act 3.

As the original came out in 1992 and was a smashing success at the box office, the  64-year-old star said she would love to return to the franchise.

Whoopi said they are ‘working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.’

She was asked by the 42-year-old host asked why a third film has not yet been produced.

Goldberg answered: ‘Because for a long time they kept saying no one wanted to see it and then quite recently it turns out that may not be true, people might want to see it.’

Sister Act also starred Dame Maggie Smith and Kathy Najimy.

It was a great success at the box office as it earned over $230million.

The story follows a Reno lounge singer (Goldberg) who witnesses a mob crime, leading her to go into protective custody at a San Francisco convent.

There, she pretends to be a nun but has trouble fitting in. 

The 1993 sequel Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit also starred a young Lauryn Hill. It did not do as well only earning $57.3million.

Sister Act did only achieve success on the big screen but it was also made into a Tony award-winning Broadway musical. 

There was also reports of a Disney remake years ago but it remained uncertain if Whoopi would be involved.
