He’s just four-months-old, but already Princes Charles of Luxembourg is getting his first taste of official royal engagements.

Prince Guillaume, 38, and Princess Stephanie, 36, beamed as they took their son Prince Charles, who was born in May, to the Château de Munsbach’s rose garden on Monday.

In accordance with tradition, a variety of rose was named after Prince Charles by the Conservatory for Luxembourg’s Rose-Growing Heritage.

The young prince, who is second-in-line to the throne after his dad, was the perfect visitor, dressed in a cute grey woolen hoodie.

The Royal Court of Luxembourg has released pictures of the event and of the adorable new prince and his parents, the Hereditary Grand Duke and Duchess, on Instagram.

In the sweet snaps, the young royal, safely tucked into his mother’s arms, was seen smiling.

New dad Guillaume, who is the eldest son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa, beamed as he stayed close to his wife and baby during the visit.

Stephanie, draped in a navy blue cape, looked relaxed. She and her husband both wore masks for the majority of the event, except for a seated portion, where proud father Prince Guillaume held his son’s tiny hand.

The happy couple took a turn around the garden and were introduced to the variety of beautiful pink rose that was named after their son.

Guillaume and Stephanie met with members of the conservatory during the event, and planted roses in honour of their son.

The Luxembourg tradition to name roses after newborn royals was started in 1981, when the first flower was named after Grand-Duke Adolphe.

The Château de Munsbach’s rose garden is filled with this historical variety of roses.

Born on May 10, the sweet young prince was christened on September 19, at L’abbaye St Maurice.

At the time of his birth in May, the young Prince could not meet his grandparents Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa because of social distancing measure put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

But the intimate photos revealed the Grand Duke has finally been able to meet his grandson.

In sweet pictures released in June, the royal baby can be seen enjoying a nap while resting on the side of a large white teddy bear, while others show him peacefully resting in his mother’s arms at Fischbah castle.

‘It is with great pleasure that Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie reveal new pictures of their son Charles,’ the Instagram post read.
