Jennifer Lopez’s 12-year-old daughter plans to sing You Are My Sunshine at her mother’s wedding

Eight months after sharing the stage with her mother Jennifer Lopez at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, Emme Maribel revealed her equally impressive next gig. 

The 12-year-old daughter of the 51-year-old Let’s Get Loud hitmaker and 52-year-old Marc Anthony unveiled her plans to perform at her mom’s upcoming wedding to Alex Rodriguez. 

The newly minted children’s book author said she is leaning toward the sentimental  track, You Are My Sunshine, during an interview with E! News that was shared on Monday.

When asked what she may sing at the pair’s nuptials, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the budding performer explained the classic song’s tender ties to her childhood.     

‘One song that I think I would sing is a song that connects me and her, but I’m thinking of a song that would also connect her and Alex,’ she said, with a beaming smile. ‘But one that connects me and her is, You Are My Sunshine.’

She noted that her mother sang the tune to her ‘every day’ she was little, as she ‘was going to sleep.’

For her virtual chat from her family’s Manhattan apartment, J. Lo’s mini-me sported her hair in a wavy updo, glam makeup and a fuzzy pink and white top. 

She has recently partaken in a number of chats, including one with Mario Lopez for Access Hollywood, about her debut book, Lord Help Me. 

In her interview with the 46-year-old entertainment journalist, Emme opened up about her close relationship with her parents.

‘When you want something, which parent is most likely to say no?’ Mario asked, before rephrasing the question. ‘Who is most likely to say yes when you want something?’ he said. 

She replied with certainty: ‘My dad, for sure!’ 

Later, the author gushed that her mother and father are both ‘incredibly proud’ and supportive of her.

‘My mom helped me, she’s supported me in every way possible. She helped me, she came with me to the publishing meetings,’ she revealed of her book deal. 

While Anthony ‘sadly’ wasn’t able to attend ‘any of the meetings,’ Emme says he was there when she taped the audiobook. 

‘He’s very funny. He cares about all of us a lot, and he’s just a good person,’ she said of her dad.

As for her mother, Emme described the two-time Grammy nominee as ‘such a powerful human being. It’s insane.’

‘I don’t even know how to explain it. There are so many adjectives that can describe her in so many good ways,’ she added.

During a recent interview with People, Emme opened up about her venture into the literary world.

‘I really hope children are able to learn to pray, share the book and spread the power of prayer after reading it,’ she said.

The little girl noted the she uses prayer to navigate ‘big and small’ challenges throughout the day, but communicating with her twin brother Max has never been an issue.

‘Max and I have a special relationship,’ Emme said. ‘Since we were very little, I could always understand him when no one else could.’
