Gloria Estefan insists there will NOT be any ‘entanglements’ on her new Red Table Talk spin-off

Gloria Estefan has revealed there will be no ‘entanglements’ on her talk show Red Table Talk: The Estefans, a spin-off of Jada Pinkett Smith’s show of the same name.

The legendary singer, 63, is starring in her own version of the series alongside her daughter Emily, 25, and her niece Lili, 53, and told MailOnline that they ‘talk about a lot of things that have never been talked about’.

Referencing Jada’s now infamous conversation with husband Will Smith where she told him she got into an ‘entanglement’ with August Alsina while they were still married, Gloria insisted there won’t be a similar revelation on her show.

She said: ‘We talk about a lot of things that have never been talked about and that our fans absolutely do not know, that’s for sure.

‘A lot of family members may not know. It may not be an entanglement issue,’ she added, laughing. ‘There will be revelations but it’s different experiences. Jada’s background is not what we lived through, we lived through different things.

‘So far, no entanglements, but there’s always a second season if we get it. There’s time to create an entanglement!’

‘Entanglement’ referred to Jada confirming on an episode of Red Table Talk that she had a relationship with August while married to Will at a time when they thought their marriage could be ending.

The singer told how she, Lili and Emily were huge fans of Jada and they all jumped at the chance to do their own version of the show when the offer came up.

Gloria said: ‘I don’t believe I would have done this before. We have personal relationships with our fans because of social media, it’s a different world.

‘I’ve lived for quite a few decades and I’ve always been very honest. Something does come with experience and years of being around.

‘As a woman, I feel so comfortable in my own skin at this point. Of course you think, “Am I ready?” The only reason to do a show like this is if you’re ready.

‘You can’t fake real. I think it’s a good moment for me. I was ready for this but I didn’t want to throw my family into a situation they might not be ready for, that was my only reservation.’

Lili added: ‘For me, to do this with the family is very special. I’ve been doing a daily show for the last twenty-two years and I thought, “how do I do this?” I have to do my show. But it was so easy. I said yes right away, and then I thought about it!’

Emily agreed, saying she believes the show will help the trio as a family while also helping their fans through their honest conversations with each other.

She said: ‘I thought, this will help not only ourselves and our relationships, it will be a source of information and authenticity to whoever wants it. It can reach everybody around the world, my hopes are that it reaches a lot of people.

‘We’re human beings and everybody makes mistakes. It’s something that I think we will be proud that will be out there forever with the intention of helping others and being honest.’

Gloria is involved in Hispanic Heritage Month every year which runs from September 15 to October 15 and celebrations the contributions of Hispanic Americans to American culture.

While she believes strides have been made for Hispanic representation in the music and entertainment industry, Gloria told how she believes more needs to be done.

She said: ‘I know for a fact we are underrepresented. We are, I think, four per cent of the entertainment industry. Has it got better? Yes.

‘One of our guests is a Hispanic actor who was on a huge, gigantic series. We still work on ways to make that [representation] be better for fellow Hispanics.

‘That’s a struggle that we will continue to have and it’s great to have the opportunity to have those conversations. We’re working towards bettering that always.’

Lili credited her aunt, who has sold an estimated 100million records worldwide, with paving the way for other Hispanic artists who came after her.

She said: ‘I see so many people in the Hispanic market whose dream is to make that crossover but you know, it’s not easy. It takes time and determination. We have to thank Gloria. She opened doors for Shakira, J.Lo, Ricky Martin.’

Emily is following in her mother’s footsteps and has also developed her own music career and often goes to Gloria for advice.

She said: ‘It took me 18 years to sing. The thing I love about my family is that they’ve always supported me but they’ve never pushed.

‘They’re always honest about what will be good for me and my career. Watching their careers has only enriched my own relationship with my music. They helped me come into my own.’
