Gogglebox: Pete Sandiford mocked by cruel trolls after he shares first snap with girlfriend Paige

Nasty trolls have attacked Gogglebox star Pete Sandiford after he innocently shared a selfie with his stunning girlfriend.

Pete, 26, appears on Gogglebox with his sister Sophie, 24, and keeps his private life out of the spotlight.

But over the weekend, Pete proudly shared the snap with long-term love Paige Yeomans, with a sweet caption.

‘My Mrs and best mate what more could I ask for!’ he wrote, before reassuring his sister: ‘Don’t worry @sophiesandiford1 you are a close second best friend!’

He added of the snap: ‘This was taken last year FYI [sic].’

Generally, fans penned pleasant remarks underneath the snap, such as, ‘Decent, honest lads who make you laugh – always get the girl,’ and, ‘Hope you’re keeping safe and well buddy – great pic!’

But then came the inevitable snide trolls who felt the need to add a dose of negativity. 

Most of these comments suggested Pete was ‘punching above his weight’ and that Sophie was ‘out of his league’.

‘The benefits of being on tele,’ one bitterly remarked.

‘Punching!!’ another posted cruelly.

‘What attracted the beautiful Paige to the TV star Pete?’ another posted, mimicking the Debbie McGee/Paul Daniels joke from The Mrs Merton Show.

‘Batting there Fella!’ another wrote.

Many responded directly to the nasty comments. One wrote: ‘People actually wonder why we live in a generation with so many mental health problems, because rather than be happy for somebody they post irrelevant and hurtful comments over social media!’

Another echoed this with: ‘Not sure why people are trolling him. Whats the point in that? They’re both beaming from ear to ear. Hope they are happy. All that matters really!’

Pete has been a firm-favourite on Gogglebox since he first appeared in 2018 alongside Sophie.

She commented on the snap with: ‘Love you guys so much!’

Pete remarked in the past that he was ‘gobsmacked’ he was ever even cast on Gogglebox.

‘We’re still gobsmacked that we’re on the show. A woman came up to me saying me and Soph were ace – when people take the time to do that, it means a lot,’ he once told The Sun.

Pete works in insurance as his day job while his sister is a shop window dresser.
