The philanthropist suffered life-altering burns after being doused in sulphuric acid by Stefan Sylvestre in a horrific acid attack in 2008, which was orchestrated by her jealous ex-boyfriend David Lynch.

She endured significant damage to her face including her eye which forced her to have a skin graft last month to have her lid replaced after struggling to open it.

In a clip shared to her Instagram Stories, the mother-of-two revealed her eye is ‘a bit sore and swollen’ as she returned home from the hospital with a bandage around her head, and clarified why she had to undergo the op.

Katie said: ‘I had a really successful operation. I was getting lots of soreness and infections of my blind eye.

‘It was because the eyelid which was originally a skin graft had contracted and got really tough and shrunk, so my eye was closing. I’d wake up in the morning really uncomfortable.

‘I’ve had a procedure to remove some skin from my arm, take off the old lid, remove the scar tissue and skin graft a new eyelid. I’ve had a scar revision on an old skin graft on the lower lid. All successful, I just have a bit of a sore throat.’

Katie, has already undergone over 200 medical procedures including pioneering skin surgery since the horrendous ordeal.

She expressed her gratitude towards her fans for their well wishes on social media, saying: ‘Hi everyone, thanks for all your messages.

‘I’ve had to turn off my phone because I’m a bit sore and swollen and I can’t see. I’ll read them in a few days when the swelling goes down.’

The life transforming yet tragic event that happened towards the Cutting Edge star encouraged her to become an advocate and launch her own charity for other burns victims as well as promoting inner-confidence on social media.
