Cameron Merchant and Jules Cameron already agreed on a baby name while filming MAFS

Married At First Sight’s real life married couple Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant are expecting their first child in September.

And soon-to-be-father Cameron claims the pair have had a girl’s name picked out since filming their season of MAFS in 2018.

The SodaStream ambassador, 36, told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday: ‘I mentioned it to Jules when we first brought up kids, and she loved it and we have gone with it.’

Cameron and Jules, who became legally married in November 2019, have chosen to keep the gender of their unborn child a secret until birth.

Keeping the name private, Cameron said: ‘I had our girls name picked out when I was playing professional cricket in New Zealand more than six years ago.’

Happy that Jules was on board with his suggestion, he added: ‘We’ve both agreed on a middle name also!’

However, as the couple don’t know if they’ll be welcoming a son, Cameron said: ‘but with a boy’s name… we are a little bit behind on that one. Happy to take any ideas on board.’

During an interview with Who magazine in March, a month before their official pregnancy announcement, Jules said they had discussed naming a potential child with a name starting with the letter ‘M’.

‘Cam’s last name is Merchant, so something that starts with M. Alliteration,’ she said, but the couple both firmly stated they were ‘absolutely not’ considering ‘Martha’ – a subtle jab at controversial co-star Martha Kalifatidis.

With the potential of holding his new bub as a father this coming Father’s Day (September 6, 2020), Cameron is beyond excited to become a loving parent.

He told Daily Mail Australia that he’s been preparing for the baby by joining Jules for breathing, mediation, and HypnoBirthing exercises, as well as pregnancy yoga.

In their downtime during lockdown, Cameron says they have been relaxing at home with non-alcoholic mocktails.

‘Jules and my favourite drink is a non-alcoholic Kombu-cha-cha with SodaStream. It’s been great during Jules’ pregnancy, because she obviously can’t drink,’ he said.

‘SodaStream has been exceptional for our wellbeing and health during this time, but also when you know you are doing your part for the environment and helping reduce the usage of plastic bottles and wastage around the planet,’ Cameron said.

Cameron and Jules recently moved into a new place ahead of the baby’s arrival, and the couple have been busy getting everything prepared.

‘Right now, I certainly wouldn’t call it “Nesting”. I’d call it more “frantic overdriving” enabling us to nest before the bub comes as we become first time parents but it’s been amazing and can’t wait to experience something so special and a new way of life which I’m looking forward to!’ he said.

While the couple were anxious at first amid the coronavirus pandemic, their fears soon turned to excitement and gratitude.

‘The only time we were really anxious was when there was a possibility that the hospitals wouldn’t allow a partner in if you were giving birth. That would have been devastating, but very thankful that has been lifted and we can experience this miracle together. We are so grateful for that.’
