Billie Eilish speaks of ‘hopeful future’ as she and brother Finneas recreate NPR’s Tiny Desk

Five-time Grammy winner Billie Eilish and her big brother, best friend, and collaborator Finneas O’Connell recreated NPR’s Tiny Desk from the comfort of their family’s Highland Park home for a concert on Wednesday.

Videographer Matty Vogel shared a behind-the-scenes shot of the cardboard cut-out of the NPR Music office printed out by art director Henry Hickman.

‘So obviously, we are not actually at Tiny Desk, because this is a cardboard cut-out of it. But it’s still real, it’s just not in-person real,’ the 18-year-old pop star gestured.

‘Quarantine’s been weird; I know you all feel the same. It’s been weird, we don’t know how long it’s gonna go. There’s barely anything that feels like there’s any hope in, but I think the future is something to be super hopeful in, and the unknown and what is to come. We’ll be okay one day. Maybe not right now, but I think that’s what’s making me hold on.’

During the 10-minute video, Billie and her 23-year-old sibling performed her newest single, My Future, with her on keyboard and him on guitar.

Then Finneas played the keyboard as Eilish performed her 2019 track Everything I Wanted, which she touchingly revealed was about their relationship.

‘I had a dream/ I got everything I wanted/ But when I wake up, I see/ You with me,’ the homeschooled vegan sang with her whispery soprano.

‘And you say, As long as I’m here/ No one can hurt you/ Don’t wanna lie here/ But you can learn to.’

Finneas later expressed his outrage over Kyle Rittenhouse, who was charged with first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly shooting two Black Lives Matter protesters dead in Wisconsin on Tuesday.

‘F*** Kyle Rittenhouse and f*** this gun loving racist ass country for allowing him to legally run around during a protest carrying a rifle and shooting unarmed civilians,’ the musician tweeted on Wednesday.

‘There is no “good guy with a gun.” Only white 17 yr olds who think their life is a Mark Wahlberg movie. VOTE.’

‘You don’t need me to tell you things are a mess – Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about,’ the No Time to Die songstress said.

‘We need leaders who will solve problems like climate change and COVID – not deny them. Leaders who will fight against systemic racism and inequality.’
