‘A miracle happened!’ Christie Whelan Browne announces she is pregnant with her first child after heartbreaking battle with infertility and multiple rounds of IVF
Australian musical theatre star Christie Whelan Browne has announced she and husband Rohan Browne are expecting their first child.
The 38-year-old actress, who previously endured three unsuccessful rounds of IVF, shared the happy news on Instagram this Wednesday, calling her pregnancy a ‘miracle.’
Uploading several photos of musical theatre performer Rohan, 38, posing next to her growing belly, Christie wrote: ‘A miracle happened. We have never been so happy. Happy Hump/Bump Day.’

The post was flooded with congratulatory comments from Australian celebrities, including singer Kate Miller-Heidke who wrote: ‘OMG yay! So happy for you all xxx’
‘OMG!! That’s fantastic!! Congratulations,’ actress Rebecca Gibney concurred, as comedian Julia Morris added: ‘The yummiest parents ever… congratulations lovelies!’
Meanwhile, father-to-be Rohan excitedly shared the news on his Instagram page, while confirming that the couple are expecting a boy.

The happy news comes after Christie’s debilitating battle with endometriosis – a painful condition caused when cells in the uterus grow outside of the uterine cavity.
The Neighbours actress was diagnosed with, which can often cause infertility, 10 years ago.

Last month, Christie spoke about her struggles with infertility and the financial burden of undergoing three unsuccessful rounds of IVF.
‘It’s a heartbreaking and emotional kick when [IVF] doesn’t work, but also a financial kick,’ she told the Sydney Morning Herald, confessing that she’s even had family members contribute to paying for her IVF.
Christie also described the feeling of ‘shame’ that comes with infertility, admitting: ‘It makes you question your womanhood and it’s very hard to remove.’
The blonde insisted that infertility is ‘nothing to be ashamed of’, and that the word shame should only be used to describe situations when you have done something wrong.
