Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is on the mend after undergoing surgery for appendicitis
Ryan Lochte is recovering from an appendicitis surgery he said ‘went amazing.’
The Olympic gold medalist, 36, took to Instagram Stories Saturday with selfies and a montage of clips documenting his experience as he underwent the operation.
The Dancing With the Stars alum was supported by his spouse amid the medical procedure, as both were clad in face masks amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The swimming star and his wife Kayla, 29, are parents to son Caiden, three, and daughter Liv, one.
He subsequently said in a video that he was recuperating after the procedure.
‘Hey everyone, surgery went amazing, I’m all good – I feel great right now,’ Lochte said as he had breathing tubes in his nose.
The athlete subsequently shared a shot of his ‘post-surgery meal,’ which consisted of a steak, friend and salad.

Lochte last year publicly spoke about undergoing a six-week rehab program in 2018 for alcohol and the attitude adjustment it brought.
‘I think it was getting to a point in my life where I needed a change,’ he told USA Today reported. ‘Since Caiden and my new daughter Liv has been born I have a new perspective on life and I’m definitely not the same person that I was.’
Lochte, who was preparing for the 2020 Olympics – which were delayed to next year amid the pandemic – said that he ‘went there because [he] needed help.’
He added: ‘I need to change some things in my life. That’s what I went there for and I came out a better man.’

Lochte was ensnared in controversy at the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after he and teammates Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and James Feigen claimed they had been robbed.
After authorities found major credibility issues with his story – and Lochte told NBC he ‘over-exaggerated’ things – he was hit with a 10-month ban from organized swimming by the US Olympic Committee and USA Swimming.
