Pharrell Williams dedicates new Jay-Z collaboration Entrepreneur to ‘every Black queen, king and entrepreneur’

Pharrell Williams has released his new collaboration with Jay-Z titled Entrepreneur, which touches on ambitions, professions and growth in the Black community.

The 47-year-old singer/producer tweeted a link to the clip Thursday with a message of gratitude.

‘ENTREPRENEUR out now. Thank you to Jay (@S_C_), and to every Black queen, king and entrepreneur who made this all happen!’ the Happy artist wrote. ‘This is for you…and your Black vision of the future. Special thank you to the director @CALMATIC for creating such a beautiful video.’

Lyrics to the powerful tune include: ‘In this position with no choice/The system imprison young Black boys/Distract with white noise;’ while the video showcases innovators and professionals across numerous industries including tech, fitness, restaurants and production.

The Virginia Beach, Virginia native released the inspiring clip in tandem with a TIME magazine release titled The New American Revolution, which Pharrell put together to highlight racial inequality amid a social movement over the past few months.

The issue features dialogues with noted names including Angela Davis, Naomi Osaka and Tyler, the Creator.

He told the publication that the song is focused on ‘how tough it is to be an entrepreneur in our country to begin with … especially as someone of color.

‘When you have successful beehive-type communities where you can circulate money within your community, it makes a huge difference,’ Pharrell said. ‘They keep saying the American Dream is about the house and picket fence, the wife and two kids.

‘Come on – let’s be honest. It’s always boiled down to money and an opportunity.’

Pharrell and Jay-Z have past worked together on songs such as Frontin, I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me) and Excuse Me Miss.
