Fourteen B&Q staff test positive for coronavirus at a distribution centre – as Sky TV call centre in Cardiff is closed after three workers were infected

Fourteen B&Q staff test have tested positive for coronavirus at a distribution centre in Swindon.
The DIY company said other colleagues at the warehouse in South Marston were informed of the result through track and trace and self-isolated before testing negative for the Covid-19.
It is thought they have since returned to work, according to the Swindon Advertiser.

A B&Q spokesperson said: ‘Our partner Wincanton can confirm that 14 colleagues at our Swindon Distribution Centre have received a positive (Covid-19) test result, and are self-isolating.
‘Of the colleagues contacted through the local track and trace procedure, all self-isolated immediately and have received a negative test result to confirm it is safe for them to return to work.
‘In line with Government’s guidance, Wincanton continues to take all the appropriate measures to ensure the safety of colleagues when on site.
‘This includes thermal imaging cameras to detect temperatures, staggered shift timings, social distancing markings on the floors, access to PPE, thorough cleaning procedures, and a ban on non-essential visits to the site.
‘Wincanton is working closely with the relevant public health authorities, who have praised the social distancing measures in place at the Swindon Distribution Centre.’
Swindon currently has one of the highest Covid infection rates in the country.
It comes after just hours after a Sky TV call centre was forced to close after three workers tested positive for coronavirus.
Sky confirmed three staff members at its contact centre in Cardiff had Covid-19 and the building will be temporarily closed from today.
Around 700 staff work at the centre in Cardiff but it is believed around 250 staff were working at the site on Friday, while the rest work from home.

The same office closed in March and was shut for deep cleaning after a worker had suspected coronavirus.
In a statement, Sky said: ‘We can confirm that three Sky colleagues in our Cardiff contact centre have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and they are self-isolating at home.
‘Protecting our people is and always will be our top priority and so we are closing the contact centre today and sending everyone home as a precaution.
‘We’re contacting anyone who has been in contact with our colleagues, the centre itself has recently been deep cleaned and will be deep cleaned again over the weekend.’

Sky said safety was its top priority and it had a robust contact tracing programme in place.
