Before moving to Australia with his father at the age of 12, Ciarran grew up in Manchester and would often spend weekends with his grandmother.

On Sundays, he would be dropped at his mother’s house and she would refuse to come to the door to greet him because of the bruises on her face.

‘I’d just have to say goodbye to my grandma and go in,’ he said.

‘And I’d see my mum’s got two black eyes or a fat lip, and there would be an excuse straight away from the partner she was with at the time.’

He went on to say that it ‘kept happening’ and that he felt useless because he was ‘just a kid’ at the time.

Ciarran’s confession comes after he revealed that he hopes to raise money for domestic violence victims and men’s mental health through a charity boxing match with his Bachelor in Paradise rival Matt Whyatt.

On Sunday, he shared a promotional poster to Instagram teasing the event.

Ready for it: 'I get to go toe-to-toe in the ring. It's nothing personal. It's me or you. And it's definitely not going to be me. Not in front of all these people,' Ciarran wrote under the poster
