John Terry ‘loses £207,000 after backing a trendy swimwear company which has gone bust’

John Terry has lost £207,000 after backing a trendy swimwear company which has now gone bust.

The Chelsea and England legend, 39, invested in the luxury brand Thomas Royall in 2015.

The footballer has even modelled for the company alongside his wife Toni, 37, and son Georgie, 14.

The Aston Villa coach was also a director of the brand in 2018 and said he planned to ‘go global’.

But Thomas Royall has now gone bust and owes as much as £512,000, according to The Sun.

Paperwork shows that Terry’s investment has now been lost, administrators confirmed.

The company has now filed for liquidation and cut prices with swimming shorts now on offer for £30, down from £85, and t-shirts cut from £35 to £20.

Terry was even pictured in a pair of the brand’s blue shorts on Instagram earlier this month.

The company was set up by former Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell and Brentford coach Sam Saunders.

A source said: ‘I’m sure John will shake this loss off. It’s relatively small change to him.’

MailOnline has contacted his representatives for comment.

It comes after the footballer enjoyed a day of golf with his pals Max Evans, Peter Jones and Bradley Walsh recently during his Portugal holiday.

Taking to social media, the star posted a snap of the group on the course as he jokingly shared a few golf tips with some ‘how-to’ videos.

‘If anyone is needing any golf tips check out @bradderswalsh on the second video. See you on the Padel court @peterjonescbe @maxevans13 @crouchy’.

Rugby star Max, 36, who shared a snap to his account of the group playing Padel, commented ‘Mega Day’ on the post.

The gang appear to have been staying at the luxurious Quinto do Lago resort in the Algarve region.

Former footballer Peter Crouch also met up with the group on the holiday as Max shared a snap with him to his account.

It comes after John showed fans he was making the most of his time in the sunshine on Sunday, when he uploaded shots of himself and his wife Toni enjoying a scenic boat ride.

The former footballer proudly displayed his rippling abs, donning blue swimming shorts as he posed alongside his glamorous wife, 38, who wowed in a black string bikini.

John has much to celebrate during his pre-season holiday after he helped Aston Villa avoid relegation from the Premier League.

He jetted off to Portugal despite the country being on the British government’s quarantine ‘red list’ – meaning arrivals must isolate for 14-days when they return.

The FCO was advising against all non-essential travel the Portuguese mainland.

But regulations didn’t stop the sportsman, who was in understandably high spirits as he and his wife set off on their latest overseas holiday.

Taking to their respective Instagram accounts, the couple were pictured raising their glasses while settling into a pair of comfortable leather seats close to the jet’s cockpit.

With the mood light, Toni also shared a playful snap of her husband as the England legend grabbed forty winks during their flight to the Iberian Peninsula.

The pair even had a chance to pose in a waiting helicopter after arriving in Portugal, with former defender John flashing a grin while his wife sits alongside him.

Toni later shared a series of images and videos of their luxurious private villa, complete with outdoor swimming pool and generously sized patio seating area.
