Amazon driver urinates against garage of woman who lost her partner to coronavirus

An Amazon delivery driver was caught on camera urinating in the street against the garage of a recently bereaved family. 

Sarah Merrix, 44 – who lost her partner, football coach Dom Merrix, 48, to Covid in April, and has a ten-year-old daughter – shared the revolting video to highlight the courier’s ‘unacceptable’ behaviour. 

In the clip taken yesterday, the man, who appears to be in his forties, is seen relieving himself against Ms Merrix’s property before handling parcels without sanitising or washing his hands. 

The driver is seen parked up on the street in Portsmouth at the start of the footage just before 1pm. He then jumps out and pops the boot, to reveal a load of parcels bearing the Amazon smile logo. 

He then walks over to Ms Merrix’s garage, unzips his trousers and begins to urinate. 

The man looks around quickly before fastening his trousers and heading back to the car, treading in the puddle of urine as he goes. 

Without washing or sanitising his hands, he then picks up and removes several parcels from his boot ready to deliver. 

Ms Merrix, a customer service adviser, took to social media to complain to Amazon, sharing the video and saying: ‘Can you please explain to me why your driver is taking a p**s against my garage?

‘Is this acceptable behaviour? I suggest you trace him and send him back to clean my garage. If he is not available then I suggest you send professional cleaners. Before I send this video to the police. 

‘Also as it’s been pointed out as I was too angry at the start – he didn’t wash his hands with water or even antibacterial wash – no gloves – and then handed packages to a customer who had no idea what he had done. Disgusting cretin.’ 

The clip has outraged social media users. Alister Williams wrote: ‘All those germs he’s putting all over everyone’s packages! Definitely breaching Health and Safety.’ 

Natalie Reynolds added: ‘In the current situation, we can’t even cough or sneeze – let alone urinate on someone’s property! Gross.’ And Stephen Morgan said: ‘That is disgusting.’ 

Ms Merrix said today: ‘This Covid-19 is very raw to us and I am trying to get the point over that his actions could harm someone. 

‘I lost my partner 18 weeks ago to this virus. I don’t want sympathy, I just want to get the seriousness of hygiene out there. I’m angry and upset. It’s just disgusting – my 10-year-old opens that garage and if I hadn’t had an alert of motion, I wouldn’t have known. 

‘She or I could have put our hands in it or anything, plus the lady he delivered to was unaware he had done this. 

‘Amazon apologised and offered a professional clean and a hamper. I don’t think they seem to understand the seriousness of this. 

‘All their staff should be wearing masks and gloves when delivering. They should have some sort of device that if they need to go to the toilet they can use it in their car away from public eyes. Kids play out in my street. 

‘I’d like a professional clean or maybe a new garage door as there is now a smell of urine during the heat. I think they should also apologise to the lady down the road and send her a bunch of flowers too.’

A spokesperson for Amazon told MailOnline: ‘This does not reflect the high standards we have for our delivery partners. The driver will no longer be delivering on behalf of Amazon.’ 

‘Fit and healthy’ father-of-one, 48, who was ‘recovering’ from Covid died gasping for air within minutes of being put in ambulance after his condition suddenly worsened 

Devoted father Dom Merrix, who was ‘fit and healthy’ and had been recovering from coronavirus, died gasping for breath on April 9 as his partner and 10-year-old daughter watched on helplessly.

Mr Merrix appeared to have overcome the virus, but his condition took a turn for the worse and the 48-year-old suddenly collapsed in the morning at his home in Portsmouth.

The aspiring football coach had self-isolated over two weeks earlier due to the fact he had been experiencing symptoms of the virus.

He had been living in the downstairs area of the family home and partner Sarah, 44, and daughter Ellie-Mai had been living upstairs.

Ms Merrix called an ambulance as Dom struggled to breathe. Paramedics arrived at their home and helped him into the ambulance.

Tragically, he suffered a heart attack while in the ambulance and despite valiant efforts by medics, he died before reaching Queen Alexandra Hospital. 

Mr Merrix had not been officially diagnosed with the coronavirus but his family and friends believe he had the illness. 

A family friend warned anyone could die from the disease and urged people to stay inside.

Rachel Hibbert said that people think it isn’t going to happen to them because they are fit an young.

The 37-year-old added: ‘Dom was fit and young and it killed him. It’s torn his family apart and left them devastated.

‘This virus is taking the lives of young, fit, healthy people – not just those with underlying health conditions…It puts the fear of God in me that Dom can just drop like that.’ 

Dom had recently lost his job at energy firm SSE, where he had worked for 15 years.
