Naya Rivera’s son Josey has been ‘doing better every day’ since his mother’s untimely death

Just over a month after the tragic death of actress Naya Rivera, her four-year-old son Josey is starting to heal himself.

The Glee star was reported as missing on July 8, with Thursday marking the one-month anniversary since the 33-year-old’s body was discovered.

The four-year-old is ‘doing better every day’ according to a source from Entertainment Tonight.

Tragic: Just over a month after the tragic death of actress Naya Rivera, her four-year-old son Josey is starting to heal himself

The source adds, ‘this has been an unbelievably difficult time for her family and loved ones.’

Josey has been living with his father, Ryan Dorsey, since his mother’s death, and Rivera’s sister Nickayla has been ‘very involved’ and has spent a lot of time with Josey.

While it’s only been a month since his mother’s death, sources add Josey is ‘coping well, ‘and some days he seems like an ordinary happy-go-lucky kid.’

Still, Josey does understand that his mother is not coming back and he understands the ‘finality of death’ at a young age.

‘Ryan’s whole world is Josey right now. Ryan is still grieving and is very much struggling with the loss of Naya, but he stays strong and keeps going for the sake of his son,’ the source added.

While Dorsey has always been ‘very involved’ in raising his son, he’s even more focused on the four-year-old now than ever before.

‘Ryan would do anything for Josey. Right now, he’s really laying low and staying out of the public eye so he can completely focus on Josey and try to figure out how to navigate this new normal,’ he added

The father and son reportedly talk about Josey’s mother every day, and the family wants to make sure he has good memories of her.

The family ‘talk openly about her and answer all of Josey’s questions’ according to the source.

‘Josey is a very strong boy and Naya would be very proud of him,’ the source added.

Naya was laid to rest on July 24 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, with the death certificate confirming that the cause of death was drowning.

The death certificate also reported that she died in a ‘matter of minutes’ and there were no other major contributing factors to her death.
