Katy Perry says she plans on being like Amy Poehler’s ‘cool mom’ from Mean Girls

Katy Perry says she plans on being like Amy Poehler’s ‘cool mom’ from the film Mean Girls when her daughter becomes a teenager

She is due to give birth any day now, and is having fun speculating on what kind of mom she will be in the meantime.

Heavily pregnant Katy Perry joked that she hopes to be the ‘cool mom’ from Mean Girls when her daughter reaches her teen years, according to People Magazine.

The Daisies singer, 35, appears on this week’s cover of the publication, saying in the article, ‘I’ll be cool mom, you know? Like in Mean Girls, [I’ll] be like, “Heeey!”‘

The comparison to Amy Poehler’s zany and plastic surgery-heavy character in the 2004 Lindsay Lohan film was surely made in jest, but still, Katy hopes to share the load with fiance Orlando Bloom when it comes to disciplining their new arrival down the line.

‘He’s gonna be the good cop and I’m gonna be the bad cop. I already know it,’ Perry elaborated.

‘It’s gonna be fine. Maybe it’ll turn for the teenage years and I’ll get the teenage years.’

Katy, born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, also shared: ‘I’m the three Fs. I’m fun, firm but fair. That’s how I roll!’

But regardless of how the soon-to-be mom plans on schooling the youngster, one thing’s for sure – the California Gurls songstress will make her daughter the ‘No. 1’ priority.

‘She’ll always be the No. 1 most important thing ever, naturally,’ she said. ‘But I love [the idea of] being a working mom. I don’t think there’s anything negative about it. It’s like, “Wow, you can do that and that?” All right! That’s a woman, you know?’

And as always, the Grammy-nominated pop star was up front and candid about all she’s been through to get to this point, including a struggle with depression and mental health that led to a period of separation from Lord Of The Rings actor Bloom, 43, in 2017.

‘My blessing in all of what I went through is that I just feel like I have a bigger, more dimensional life,’ Katy told People. ‘I get to live life and I get to bring life into the world.’

‘I was really terrified of the idea of that two or three years ago’, she added. ‘It was just like, I don’t know how I’m ever gonna do that. I can barely take care of myself.’

And another element the Dark Horse hitmaker says that her experiences have helped her with is a sense of gratitude.

‘You’re just grateful that your body can do this and that it’s healthy, but I am glad that it’s in the cards for me,’ Perry reflected.

And August is shaping up to be a month in which Katy has much to be grateful for – in addition to the impending birth of her baby girl, she’s releasing her first album in three years, Smile, on August 28th.
