Ryan Reynolds set to star in parenting comedy monster movie based on New Yorker essay Everyday Parenting Tips
Ryan Reynolds is set to star in the upcoming Universal monster parenting comedy.
The currently untitled film will be based on the satirical New Yorker essay Everyday Parenting Tips by Simon Rich, and is set to be helmed by Paddington director Paul King, Deadline reported on Wednesday.
It will take place in a fictional world, as a dad (Reynolds) handles everyday parenting challenges during a Monstrous Uprising.

Reynold’s Maximum Effort Productions will produce alongside Lord Miller’s Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Aditya Sood, George Dewey and writer Rich.
Rich’s essay follows a father parenting his child who believes a monster is hiding under the bed during the Monstrous Uprising.
Recently, Rich’s other essay was adapted into the upcoming Seth Rogen HBO Max film The American Pickle.

Rich will pen the movie’s script, after pitching to Lord Miller and was brought to Universal with the company’s first-look deal.
Recently, Reynolds made headlines for branding marrying Blake Lively on a plantation back in 2012 ‘a giant f***ing mistake’, during an interview with the September issue of Fast Company.
The Deadpool actor, 43, and the Gossip Girl star, 32, tied the knot at Boone Hall, a former plantation in South Carolina, and were subsequently criticized for glamorizing a place where black slaves once suffered and died.
Ryan was unequivocal in his apology, calling the choice of location ‘something we’ll always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for’.

He said: ‘It’s impossible to reconcile. What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy.’
‘Years ago we got married again at home – but shame works in weird ways. A giant f***ing mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action,’ continued the action star.
‘It doesn’t mean you won’t f*** up again. But repatterning and challenging lifelong social conditioning is a job that doesn’t end.’
It is one of America’s oldest working plantations. In the 19th century it was owned by Henry and John Horlbeck who were in the brick business, building many of the public spaces in downtown Charleston using brick from the plantation.
