Laura Dern teases reunion with Jurassic Park co-star Sam Neill on set of Jurassic World: Dominion

Laura Dern reunited with her Jurassic Park co-star Sam Neill in London this week as they began shooting the latest film in their franchise.

The dynamic duo charmed audiences as Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant in the original 1993 movie directed by Steven Spielberg.

And now they have met again on the set of Jurassic World: Dominion, Laura revealed on her Instagram page this Tuesday.

She uploaded a picture that showed a pair of director’s chairs sitting next to each other with her and Sam’s characters names on them.

‘Day one. Hello old friend. #jurassicworlddominion,’ wrote Laura in the caption, shared with her one million Instagram followers.

This Tuesday Sam posted the same director’s chair picture to Instagram, and just like Laura he wrote in the caption: ‘Hello Old Friend.’

He had also written: ‘Hello old friend,’ the previous day alongside an Instagram picture of his famous Alan Grant fedora on a hatstand.

Sam and Laura play respectively a paleontologist and a paleobotonist, and their characters are romantically involved during Jurassic Park.

By Jurassic Park III, which has Alan as the leading man, he and Ellie have split up and she makes a brief appearance in which it emerges she is married with children.

Jurassic World: Dominion is also slated to feature Jeff Goldblum reprising his Jurassic Park role as the smooth-talking mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm.

In the first Jurassic Park he flirts with Ellie before realizing she is involved with Alan, and he also returned for its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

BD Wong is another cast member of the 1993 Jurassic Park who will be reprising his role for Jurassic World: Dominion.

He plays Dr. Henry Wu, the geneticist responsible for bringing dinosaurs back to life, and also appeared in the first two Jurassic World movies.

Jurassic World: Dominion is being directed by Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first Jurassic World but not its 2018 sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, the leads in all the Jurassic World movies, are continuing in that capacity for the new film.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star Justice Smith will be in the next movie, as will Jake Johnson who featured in the first Jurassic World in 2015.

Jurassic World: Dominion was scheduled to spend 20 weeks in principal photography, but four weeks after the process began the coronavirus lockdowns put a stop to the shooting this March.

However Deadline reported in June that production would resume at London’s Pinewood Studios in July, with approximately $5 million spent on safety measures.

Cast and crew were to be tested before their arrival and repeatedly during the shoot and were to undergo COVID-19 training while at Pinewood.

Other measures include but are not limited to anti-viral fogs each night, doctors and nurses at the studio, isolation booths and 150 hand sanitizer stations.

Sam and Jeff appeared on This Morning recently and joked: ‘We’ve gotten Laura to do the homework!’ of reading the reportedly over 100 pages of safety guidelines.

In early July shortly after the shoot resumed Universal denied reports that filming had stopped again because crew members had tested positive for COVID-19.

‘Any reports indicating that Jurassic World: Dominion has halted production are categorically untrue,’ a Universal spokesperson told Variety.

A Deadline report said that if any crew members had tested positive, they would have been those who had not yet arrived at Pinewood, rather than anyone on set.
