James Van Der Beek celebrates 10-year wedding anniversary with wife…month after miscarriage

James Van Der Beek did not hold back emotionally on Saturday, while penning a touching tribute to his wife Kimberly on Instagram for their 10-year wedding anniversary.

‘Ten years ago today this woman made me the happiest I’d ever been,’ began the 43-year-old actor, who shared numerous snapshots of him and Kimberly through the years.

Van Der Beek’s sweet post comes a little over a month after the couple announced that they had suffered their fifth miscarriage in nine-years.

James and Kimberly wed in 2010 during a ceremony in Israel, after meeting by chance during a trip to the country in 2009.

‘A year prior to [my marriage to Kimberly], I’d been famous, been wealthy, been married, been divorced, been less-than-wealthy, been single… and I was in Israel, on a trip with an organized group, when it hit me: I was done being single. I wanted a real relationship. A soul mate. Someone with whom I could build a family,’ he explained.

Prior to Kimberly, James was married to actress Heather McComb, 43, who he divorced in 2010 after seven-years of marriage.

He continued: ‘I was mid-revelation, rattling all this off to a friend of mine when a voice interrupted us, wanting to ask him a question. I was annoyed. Who the hell was stepping all over my moment? I turned around… it was @vanderkimberly.

‘Three days later, I asked her what she was looking for in a relationship. Her answer: “I’m not looking for a relationship.” Six months later we were living together. Two weeks after that we were pregnant, and almost exactly one year to the date after she’d first interrupted me (on the spot where we’re standing in the last pic)… we were married,’ wrote the Dawson’s Creek alum.

James then reflected on all of the ways being married to Kimberly has made him a better man.

‘This marriage has demanded I be more present, more honest, more authentic, more open, more patient, more passionate, daring, capable, fun, and vulnerable than I’ve ever been. And I’m still earning her.

‘We’ve been through joy and pain and everything in between, and even at the height of our most impassioned arguments… she’s who I want by my side.’

‘Kimberly, you astound me. Your bravery, your tenderness, and your unwillingness to settle for anything less than what can and ought to be…. You’re the best human I know. I love you, and I look forward to earning your partnership for years to come,’ he gushed.

James added that once the COVID-19 pandemic concluded, he owes his doting wife ‘that huge party/vow renewal in the woods’ that he has ‘been promising you for ten years.’

‘Happy anniversary babe,’ he concluded.

Kimberly and James share five-children, daughters Olivia, nine, Annabel, six, Emilia, four, Gwendolyn, two, and son Joshua, eight.

On June 20, James informed his 971,000 Instagram followers that Kimberly had suffered a miscarriage, which happened to take place at the same stage of pregnancy that her miscarriage in November of 2019 had occurred at.

‘After suffering a brutal, very public miscarriage last November, we were overjoyed to learn we were pregnant. This time, we kept the news to ourselves. But last weekend, once again, 17 weeks in… the soul we’d been excited to welcome into the world had lessons for our family that did not include joining us in a living physical body,’ explained Van Der Beek in the heartbreaking social media post.
