I’m A Celeb: Katie Price ‘has no plans to return to Australia’

Rumours that Katie Price is headed for the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle for a third time have been quashed by a source close to the star.

Katie, 42, appeared on the survival reality show for the first time in 2004 for the third series, then again for the ninth run in 2009.

It was during her first stint on the show that she met Peter Andre, who she would go on to marry and have two children with – Junior, now 15, and Princess, now 13.

‘No plans to return to Oz!’ Rumours that Katie Price is headed for the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle for a third time have been quashed by a source close to the star

On Monday, a source told The Sun that Katie is in talks to appear for a third time – albeit in her own spin-off show, aligning with the 20th series that airs this autumn.

Supposedly named A Jungle Story, Katie was said to be taking part in order to dish the unseen dirt that took place between herself and Peter, now 47, when they were campmates together.

But a source confirmed to MailOnline on Monday evening: ‘Katie has no plans to return to Oz at present!’

The Sun’s source had said: ‘Katie says loads of stuff happened in camp between her and Pete and on her second stint on the show that didn’t make it on screen.

MailOnline has approached ITV for further comment.

This comes after the channel confirmed 2020’s series will go ahead, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Speculation has been rife as to who will take part, with two former stars of the BBC rumoured to be in line.

Again speaking to The Sun, a source has said that former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite, 49, and ex-Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard, 25, are being courted for a jungle stint.

Tamzin’s EastEnders character Mel was recently killed off in the soap, and it’s reported that bosses at Strictly Come Dancing were eyeing her up to appear on the 2020 series of the dance show.

AJ was one of the Strictly pros, until he announced he was quitting earlier this year.

The source said: ‘Strictly would like to think that no one leaves the show and goes on to bigger things, but AJ will be very popular in the jungle and it’ll be a good platform for him.

‘His deal is all but done and ITV are delighted they’ve been able to prize him away from their rivals.

‘Meanwhile, it’s early days with Tamzin but she’s someone producers have discussed going to Oz in the autumn — and she’s told pals she is 100 per cent not taking part in Strictly.

‘There’s some way to go in negotiations but she’s more likely to be eating a kangaroo testicle than wearing sequins this year.’

MailOnline has approached reps for both TV personalities for comment.

This follows the news that contestants will reportedly not be staying in the luxurious Versace hotel when they are evicted from the camp, as is normally the case on the series.

Sources have claimed that TV bosses decided to cancel their post-jungle stay due to social distancing policies enforced during the coronavirus pandemic.

It has also been claimed that the stars will have to isolate for two weeks before entering the camp.

Stars reportedly won’t get the opportunity to stay in the grande Palazzo Versace hotel which features £1000 a night rooms and stunning waterfront views over the Gold Coast in Australia.

When operating as usual, the hotel features award-winning restaurants, a luxury spa, a fitness & wellbeing centre and even a private marina.

The hit reality TV show is only able to shoot because production have made an agreement with the Australian government and border force to ensure they follow the correct and safe protocol.

A source told The Sun: ‘ITV are in constant contact with the Australian authorities and are making sure everything they do is in line with their requirements.

‘Part of that is that there will be no huge entourage waiting for celebrities to leave the jungle.

‘And no friends also means no Versace hotel, where they have always stayed in the lap of luxury. When celebs are evicted they’ll be on the first plane home.’

It is unclear if celebrities will be tested for COVID-19 prior to entering the jungle and whether they will have to quarantine for a period of time once they arrive in the land down under.

Earlier this week, ITV announced that I’m A Celebrity will be back for its 20th series later this year after the global pandemic plummeted it’s future into question.

The show’s bosses have reportedly set aside a £15 million budget and are ‘sparing no expense’ to get the jungle on air.

Despite the hefty investment, this season’s contestants won’t experience the same lavish treatment as previous cast-mates after their exit from the show’s base camp.

Usually, the celebrities reside in luxury accommodation with friends and family after leaving the I’m A Celebrity jungle as the rest of the series plays out and a final king or queen is crowned.

The 2020 upcoming series will be a stripped-back version of past seasons as no friends or family will be travelling overseas to support their loved one.

Instead, celebrities will be sent back on a plane straight away to avoid possibly contracting or spreading coronavirus.
