Hamish Blake ordered air fryer after misunderstanding Victoria’s new lockdown measures

‘I thought there’d be no delivery food!’ Hamish Blake reveals he ordered an air fryer after misunderstanding Victoria’s new lockdown measures – and now has to justify the purchase to his wife

Hamish Blake has confessed that he misunderstood Victoria’s new lockdown rules that were instated on Sunday evening to control the soaring COVID-19 cases.

Detailing the hilarious faux pas on a post shared to his Instagram on Monday, the comedian explained that he ordered himself an air fryer because he thought the strict new regulations meant food delivery services wouldn’t be open for the next six week.

Soon after realising his mistake, the 38-year-old jokingly revealed he was planning on turning his house into a ‘6 week Fryer Festival’ to justify his pricey purchase to his wife, Zoë Foster.

Hamish shared a snap of him looking slightly puzzled, and began the accompanying statement acknowledging ‘this is the look of a man who slightly misunderstood yesterday’s Victorian lockdown order.’

Explaining his previous plight, he said he misunderstood the rules to mean there ‘would be no delivery food, so therefore no chips, for six weeks – so he bought an air fryer cos he heard they can make chips.’

However, he explained that he ‘didn’t tell his wife, and now he has found out there WILL be delivery food, and he has lost his main argument for buying the air fryer, and he’s waiting for her to find out he got it when it arrives on Friday or when she reads this.

‘It’s also the look of a man who is quietly vowing to air fry the sh** out of anything and everything for the next six weeks in the hopes of being hailed Fry King and turning the house into a 6 week Fryer Festival to really justify the purchase.

‘It’s a pretty multi-layered look, I guess. #day1’ he concluded while teasing a social media documentation of his relationship with the air fryer over the coming weeks.

While food delivery services will still be available, Melbourne is set to suffer a shock shutdown of most shops and services for six weeks, with thousands of jobs to be lost.

Melbourne is gripped by Stage 4 lockdown with an 8pm curfew, schools shut down, weddings banned, and citizens restricted to a 5km radius from their home.

Premier Daniel Andrews on Monday announced thousands more businesses would also have to shut down from Thursday as 429 more cases were diagnosed.

Thirteen more Victorians also lost their lives overnight, bringing the state’s total to 136 and Australia’s to 221.
