Tamar Braxton is released by We TV network as they ‘honor her request’ to end relationship

Tamar Braxton, who attempted suicide on July 16, broke her silence on Instagram this week with a post denouncing the ‘systemic bondage’ of TV.

And on Friday it was revealed that We TV, the network that airs her reality show Braxton Family Values, is cutting ties with Tamar, according to TMZ.

The network claims it’s ‘honoring’ the star’s request to sever ties with them.

Departure: It was revealed Friday that We TV, the network that airs Tamar Braxton’s reality show Braxton Family Values, is cutting ties with her, according to TMZ

We tv told TMZ: ‘Tamar Braxton has been an important part of our network family for more than a decade. As she focuses on her health and recovery at what is clearly a difficult and personal time, we will work with her representative to honor her request to end all future work for the network.’

However the first season of her standalone reality show Get Ya Life! has already been filmed and will still be broadcast on WE tv unaltered, TMZ reports.

The outlet noted that the network won’t change or edit the show, despite Tamar’s alleged complaints on her portrayal in the first episode of Get Ya Life!, with the star feeling like she was ‘lied to’ by producers.

Although the show was in fact meant to premiere this Thursday it was bumped to September 10 in light of her suicide attempt.

After the news broke of her departure from WE tv was announced this Friday, Tamar posted and then deleted a tweet denying the reports.

Tamar quoted a tweet saying she had been ‘released from @WEtv!’ and denounced the information as: ‘LIES!!’

In the since-deleted tweet she wrote that ‘no one has talked to a lawyer, or to me, sent a flower or card, text to me or NAN!!!’

She alleged: ‘THIS is the abuse and Lies I am talking about. This is not helping my mental state. They just won’t stop until they see me out of my mind or dead.’

Tamar rose to fame as a singer in The Braxtons, a girl group that featured her with her sisters Toni, Traci, Towanda and Trina.

The sisters went on to co-star in a reality show about their lives called Braxton Family Values which began in 2011 and has a seventh season incoming.

That season was already partially shot when Tamar decided to leave the network, so  some but not all of the episodes will include her.

She also was a co-host on the daytime chat show The Real from 2013 until reportedly being fired in 2016 for her behavior at work.

In her new Instagram post Tamar alleged of reality TV: ‘Over the past 11 years there were promises made to protect and portray my story, with the authenticity and honesty I gave. I was betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid.

‘I wrote a letter over 2 months ago asking to be freed from what I believed was excessive and unfair. I explained in personal detail the demise I was experiencing. My cry for help went totally ignored. However the demands persisted.’

She vowed ‘to be an ally for every black and brown person who has suffered from the continued exploitation of reality television.’

Tamar wrote: ‘Reality TV personalities have no union, no coat of protection, no formal representation that protects our labor, our rights, or our voices.’

She claimed: ‘They promise us opportunity but produce exploitation, which has only developed a poor portrayal of black people in show business.

Tamar declared it her ‘mission to establish the initiative that fights for ethical business practices in reality TV, fights for the ownership of our businesses promote growth, and evolution of our stories, and gives us 100% equity in our freedom.’

After her suicide attempt The Blast reported on a letter she purportedly sent WE tv on June 2 in which she wrote that she had ‘considered ending’ her life.

The alleged letter drew a line from WE tv to the ‘cruel white slave masters who once chained our forefathers’ and blamed the network for discord among her loved ones.

Tamar’s reported note said her ‘once happy’ family now ‘fight with each other, betray each other, and now we’re physically assaulting each other.

‘All happening because your show has chosen to show the absolute worst side of a strong, independent, and successful African American family.’
