Ramona Singer ‘absolutely’ regrets gossiping about Leah McSweeney’s mental health behind her back

Ramona Singer admits that she ‘absolutely’ regrets gossiping about RHONY co-star Leah McSweeney’s mental health behind her back

Ramona Singer swallowed her pride and admitted on Thursday that she ‘absolutely’ regrets treating co-star Leah McSweeney’s, 37, mental health as a topic of gossip.

The 63-year-old Real Housewives of New York City star also praised Leah for ‘[showing] so much courage and guts’ by opening up about her bipolar II disorder.

‘I just wish her the best on her journey,’ said Singer, who appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Thursday evening.

Absolutely: Ramona Singer swallowed her pride and admitted on Thursday that she ‘absolutely’ regrets treating co-star Leah McSweeney’s, 37, mental health as a topic of gossip

She also mentioned an article Leah wrote in 2016 for the site HypeBea titled Manic McSweeney: My Love Affair With My Bipolar II Disorder, where she candidly addressed her disorder.

‘The fact that she was able to write this article showed so much courage and guts,’ added Ramona.

After the WWHL, Singer took her remorse to Twitter, where she insisted that ‘it was never [her] intention to shame Leah about her mental health issues.’

‘I understand its her story to tell. Takes a lot of courage & strength for her to go public in an article about her struggles, which I admire.

‘I only wish her well & want to help support her in the right way,’ concluded Singer.

On Thursday night’s episode of the Real Housewives Of New York City, McSweeney did not hold back as she expressed how ‘repulsed’ she was with Singer ‘spreading lies’ about her mental illness.

Ramona’s mistreatment of Leah’s mental health was triggered by ill feelings she harbored towards the fashion designer in regards to behavior she demonstrated at her birthday party.

Ramona went on to tell castmate Sonja Morgan that she believes Leah’s bipolar disorder was the reason behind her behavior at the birthday gathering.

Wishing the best: 'I just wish her the best on her journey,' said Singer, who appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Thursday evening

‘I found out she’s bipolar and she’s on medication and I know people who are bipolar and you cannot mix alcohol with meds, it makes you act not responsible. It’s actually very dangerous,’ said Singer, who also revealed that she learned of Leah’s bipolar disorder through a friend.

“They go, ‘Ramona listen, this Leah girl, she writes a blog and on a blog she says she’s bipolar.” That explains it all!’

Once she got wind of Ramona’s words, Leah fired back and proudly admitted that, after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 30, she worked hard to get herself to a ‘good place.’

‘I was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder on my 30th birthday and really dedicated the last seven years of my life to getting it under control and to getting myself in a good place. I’m not even on medication, so for her to be talking about it in this way is despicable,’ said McSweeney.
