Selena Gomez returns to social media and explains her week-long hiatus in a heartfelt new video

After taking a brief week-long social media hiatus after her 28th birthday last week, Selena Gomez returned to Instagram with a heartfelt message to her fans.

The actress shared the video on Instagram on Wednesday evening, with the simple caption, ‘a message from me’ with a heart emoji.

The Spring Breakers star opened up in the video, while wearing a grey tank top with her dark hair tied up, teasing that ‘exciting things’ are coming.

‘Hey! I wanted to take some time to do a quick message for you guys because I haven’t been posting that much,’ she began.

‘I just wanted to let you know that I love you guys and I miss you and there’s so many exciting things coming up that I can’t wait to share with all of you,’ she teased. 

‘I just think at the beginning of this year, with everything going on, it felt a little insensitive to post things that may be a little just… joyful or celebratory, it was really hard for me,’ she added.

‘I’ve taken the time to learn, truly learn about what’s going on and I continue to make that my priority,’ the actress added.

‘But, just letting you know that I’m going to be a little bit more involved and I’m just sending more love and gonna showing you some more of my personal stuff and what I have been doing,’ she added.

‘But, thank you for being here, and thank you for supporting me always and I will talk to you soon,’ Gomez concluded.

Gomez’s last post was a day after her 28th birthday last week, where she caught up on all the messages from her fans.

‘Left my phone for most of yesterday to be present in the moment, but have been reading all of your posts today,’ she began.

‘Just wanted to say thank you for every single message- I feel so much love from y’all. I love you guys so much and here’s to 28,’ she concluded.

She also announced a $100 million charity drive organized through her fashion company Rare Beauty last week.

Her company will be putting 1% of all sales towards the Rare Impact Fun, to help increase access to mental health services, hoping to raise $100 million over 10 years.

‘I’m so grateful to be surrounded by a team that’s helped make the Rare Impact Fund a reality,’ Selena said in a press release. 

‘Since the brand’s inception, we wanted to find a way to give back to our community and further support people who needed access to mental health services, which have had a profound impact on my life,’ she added.
