Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer join sci-fi thriller Invasion for Amazon Studios
Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer have boarded a new thriller entitled Invasion, which is being set up at Amazon Studios.
Amazon Studios will produce alongside Raw (American Animals) and U.K.-based financing company Film4, which has funded the development process.
BAFTA-winning filmmaker Michael Pearce (Beast) is set to direct, from a script he co-wrote with Joe Barton (The Ritual).

The father is trying to protect his children from a supernatural threat, as their journey takes the family in new directions.
They must come to grips with several hard truths about the world they live in, so they can leave their childhood behind.

Production is slated to begin in the United States later this year, though no specifics about the filming were given.
Dimitri Doganis (Three Identical Strangers), Piers Vellacott (American Animals) and Derrin Schlesinger (The Nest) are producing for Raw.
Daniel Battsek, Ollie Madden and Julia Oh are executive producing for Film4, with Kate Churchill and Jenny Hinkey also executive producing.

After directing a number of short films, Pearce made his feature film debut with Beast, featuring breakout stars Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn.
The film earned Pearce an Outstanding Debut BAFTA alongside producer Lauren Dark, who is now a senior commissioner at Film4.
Pearce’s co-writer Barton wrote Netflix’s The Ritual and iBoy, and he also created Girl/Haji.
